Charity Gaming Guild chooses ADAPT as Charity of the year

Charity Gaming Guild has chosen ADAPT Prembabies as their 2024 nominated charity. The charity was nominated due to the personal experience of one of their members and family, and the wonderful care and support ADAPT provided to them.

Through gaming events, the Charity Gaming Guild raises money for charities throughout the UK, supporting causes that are close to the member’s hearts. Previous recipients of donations include youth charity, The Mix, and St Elizabeth Hospice in Suffolk. In 2023, over £6000 was raised through the events.

The largest of the events for 2024 is a 12 hour Dungeons and Dragons game in Ipswich on Saturday 16th November.

The guild’s Chair, Ash Willson, and partner Amy were introduced to ADAPT Prembabies in September 2010 when their child Zeke was born at 31 weeks in Leicester Royal Infirmary. Zeke was born with Gastroschisis –  a condition where an infant is born with their intestines outside of the body and was given a 5% chance of survival.

Whilst expert medical professionals tended to Zeke, ADAPT Prembabies helped the couple with emotional and practical support.

In his video on the Charity Gaming Guild’s Facebook page, outlining the reasoning behind the charity choice, Ash shared how the couple, living in Peterborough at the time, received guidance on funding to help with the cost of visiting and seeing their son during his 6 week stay on the hospital’s Neonatal ward, as well as thoughtful items gifted in the charity’s ‘Baby packs’.
